Focus has always been some form of a challenge in my life, so writing about it might border on hypocritical. My favorite path is the Rabbit Trail and one of my most frequent self-admonitions as I sit at my workstation is “Focus, Farkas!”
But when I am in the zone — in that elusive creative flow state — the world disappears and all the disparate elements that have been floating around in my brain get in formation and glide in for a perfectly synchronized landing, making great things come to life. I love when that happens! It has taught me some essential things: doing great work requires focus and focus requires sacrifice. You have to say no to the “good” to make room for the “great.”
Over the history of our agency, we have had the opportunity to serve a wide variety of wonderful clients. We have learned from each of them and they all have in some way informed our path. But since the team at Golden Spiral is committed to doing great work, we have elected to focus exclusively on providing marketing services for business to business technology companies. That is our single pursuit.
There are a lot of other things we can do but, since we love doing great work, this focus empowers us to cultivate greatness and serve our clients better than anyone else. That is a huge benefit for our clients but, selfishly, it’s also really fun for us! Working with technology companies keeps us motivated and encouraged, and it also helps ensure that we can more fully live out our values as an organization. WIN.
